Equipment Operator/Maintenance Worker

Job Description
The selected candidate will operate a variety of light/medium duty construction equipment, responsible for relocating materials to and from site, and other Public Works related work. This position reports to the Public Works Director.
Examples of Duties
Operates light to medium construction or maintenance equipment such as, but not limited to: tractors, backhoes, zero-turn mowers, skid steer loaders, dump truck.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED and six months experience operating medium duty construction equipment. Requires valid Class B North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain within 6 months of job appointment and acceptable driving record.
Additional Skills
  • Using and controlling the operation of equipment
  • The performance of repairs and maintenance of assigned equipment
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Communicating with others to convey information effectively
  • Ability to read and interpret reports, maps, gis mapping, survey markers
