About Us

In 1954, Eastern Radiologists (ERI) was founded by Dr. Allen Taylor in Greenville, North Carolina. The practice was located within Pitt County Memorial Hospital (known today as Vidant Medical Center) until an outpatient imaging center was opened in 1979. From day one, ERI has experienced continuous growth and expansion, breaking new ground along the way: First ultrasound in Pitt County, followed by the first CT scanner. First facility in the state to achieve breast ultrasound accreditation. Our commitment to innovation continues now with the most advanced open wide-bore MRI and breakthrough 3D breast biopsy. Our Breast Imaging Center was one of the first in North Carolina to achieve the esteemed status of Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, as awarded by the American College of Radiology, and ERI was just second in the country to offer the CESM procedure to aid in the detection of breast cancer. Today ERI employs more than 50 radiologists and serves 13 hospitals and six outpatient facilities. State-of-the-art technology and unparalleled care are simply who we are. (Our history speaks for itself.)
